We're not the same

As much as we want it to be
You are you and I am I
One laughs during a sad movie
One leaves teary eyed
Another leaves feeling strong emotions
I leave wondering
You leave reminiscing of the past

I left without my heart
You bid farewell with a great smile
I'm gone but have but not forgotten
That everyone sees differently
Breathes and beats a different heartbeat

By understanding differences and accepting
You are far away and nothing more than a name
A name I hear but not say
If I didn't I would be unfound

My Best Friend's wedding

On the 18th of December 2010, my best friend Karen finally ties the knot with her 8 yr long bf Jac. I am truly excited and happy for her. Although being the best friend I have my doubts of him, but I guess after 8 yrs I have decided that he is never going to change and that is the way she loves him. There is nothing wrong about him just that he is not your typical bf.

My shopping findings for a KL Wedding Dinner venue

Coming from a typical Malaysian Chinese family, It is expected of me to celebrate my wedding with a Chinese Dinner. Could be in a Hotel, Restaurant, Garden or wherever food can be served and tables to be set up with seatings. For my family, a buffet dinner is not gonna be very welcoming as there are many elderly people and it would be a hassle for them to keep getting up and walking around to get to their food. So here goes my adventure to prepare my wedding dinner coming May 2011!

I have approximately 4 months to get this happening. No pre-wedding photos have been shot yet, neither have gowns, suits and stuff been chosen yet. Everything started yesterday.

Lucky to have my fiancé's best friend to help us collaborate some information about prices, quotations and pax per ballroom. Chinese restaurant's are sorta out of the question as its either fully booked or they can't accommodate the troop. Yes! We have more than 250 family members. There are also tables allocated for the maids and drivers.Well, their not my maids or drivers but yea, still gotta invite them cause of my grandfather who has been long gone.

Working within a budget, we hit the hotels on Saturday afternoon to check out the venues.

Check in 1: Crowne Plaza Hotel along Jalan Sultan Ismail
  • Big ballroom, but because they have 2 rooms linked into 1, there is a very obvious ceiling drop in the
  •       second room. It is very much lower than the main ballroom.
  • Could smell carpets and smells really really uninviting (well I have a sensitive nose) but if you don't mind it ,
  •       it's good. (Fiancé didn't smell it)
  • The hotel is old, so don't expect the ceilings, walls, upholstery to be looking spanking white and shiny.
  • It's got a big stage and apparently can be extended if you wish.
  • Chandelier looks kinda like it needs to be cleaned. (But its so high up guess no one would realise)
  • Easy access for guests as there is a valet parking right in front of the entrance to the Ballroom.
  • If you take up both the rooms, the whole floor seems like its dedicated to just your function as I do not see any other rooms or restaurants on the lower ground floor.
  • A big holding/powder/changing room.
  • They offer a free room stay too.
  • The manager in charge was not available on that day.
  • Should be quite value for money if you want to do it in a hotel.
Check in 2: Nikko Hotel along Jalan Ampang.
  • Price ranges from RM1600++ and all the way up.
  • Easily fits 40 tables
  • Clean and no obvious signs of tears or rips on the upholstery.
  • Good location and ample car park spots in the basement carpark.
  • Nice decorations. Stage is not as big as Crowne Plaza but can easily fit a quartet.
  • When we were there, the management was in the midst of setting up the place for a wedding that evening.
  • So, we were able to see a complete set up of seating arrangements. There are no pillars in the ballroom that we were at.
  • Escalator your way up to the ballrooms.
  • Pre-wedding dinner drinks area available
Check in 3: Renaissance Hotel along Jalan Sultan Ismail
  • Heard many good comments about this Hotel and the quality of food.
  • Person in charge not available, so the concierge staff told us to wait at the lounge.
  • Think this guy is new cause he is totally in need of communication skills and training.
  • Entrance to the hotel and up the stairs is the ballroom.
  • There was a function setting up going on and we could see the place in set up mode.
  • 2 big Chandeliers and carpets are red. Looks clean.
  • Easily fits 40 tables.
  • No obvious wear and tear.
  • Guy just walks away without saying goodbye lol!
  • Price ranging from about RM1400 onwards
Hotel dinner experience 1: KL Hilton
  • Went there for a French style dinner. (Not very up to standard)
  • Big ballroom and can fit more than 40 tables
  • Price is from RM1800 and above for chinese style dinners
  • Decoration is minimal but I guess it can be done.
  • If you want Grand then you can go for this Hotel.
  • Don't remember much of this Hotel cause the food was not that great so we all got drunk instead!

More next weekend!

Scooby the Pitbull @ 5 months

3 months ago, we bought this Pitbull puppy from a breeder who has approximately 100 over Pitbulls in his ''dog farm'. At least it is clean and the dogs are not caged up like chickens in an egg farm. But I realised that most of the Pitbulls were suffering from some sort of skin problem. Looks painful but no flesh wound at sight. Patches of fur missing and chicken pox like skin on the underside of the body.

I saw the puppy I wanted and he had a crooked tail but its bent in a really cute way where his ass now looks squarish when his tail is down. First month, we spend weekends taking him to the vet to him immunised and checked on for his skin condition. The vet advices that the breed has a lot of skin related problems are their immunity against skin diseases are very low. (Sigh!) Poor puppy has chicken pox like scabs on the half end towards its hind legs. Gave him medication and changed its diet to Salmon + Rice doggie food. He got better.

However in the second month, he started having diarrhea a few times a day. Figured it could be the food or the treats that we bought so we stopped giving it to see if it'll stop. 4 days later, still the same so we decided to take him in to the vet again. The vet doesn't have a clue what happened but gave it drips and it was better. On the way out of the clinic, he squirted all over the floor and it seriously looked like 'shark's fin' broth.

Gave it the meds and 2 days later it was shitting rocks again!

Now after 3 months, we have an insane dog in the house that shits bricks everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone is interested in getting a pitbull puppy/dog in Kuala Lumpur, do drop a message and I shall advice where to go as apparently I can't get a license for this dog and was not told by the breeder nor the VET! Good job. Just have to train it not to 'hate' strangers.

iPhone 4 buzzing on Temperature Warning!

Recently bought an iPhone 4 from Singapore for a premium price. Bought it outright, got it jailbroken and stuff. Worked fine, downloads awesome but I felt guilty and signed up for iTunes. Gonna see my credit card bill fly high soon. 2nd of January 2011, my Whatsapp was beeping so I picked up my phone and had a look at it, it was flashing with a 'Temperature Warning' and I could do nothing other than make emergency phone calls. It had to temporarily halt everything as the phone was over-heating. My phone was left on the table and was untouched for the past 3 hours or so. I rebooted the phone and it worked as normal again till today. But its been only 3 days since. If this warning still persists I shall be heading to the phone shop. Grrr! So not funny.

Force restart the iphone and you it will return back to normal again. This happened 3 times in a year. It is still bearable. All 3 times were while multiple whatsapp messages were flooding in at the same time.

Oh phew!!!

As random as random may be, this will officially be the exit of my randomness to cyberspace. If anyone cares to read, thank you, if not, I already know it for a fact. There are a gazillion blogs out there and gabillions unread by others except the owner of the blog themselves. Picture of the day! Enjoy whatever comes next.
