Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia Part 4

Padang Part 4

This is the gate to Nature's Inn Padang. Looks shabby but its a really unexpectedly clean and tidy place. Other than the occasional mosquito. You get TV, DVD, Food, Washing services, Water, toilet, good grade toilet paper (This is important). The place doesn't stink or is there dust on the floor. There is free wi-fi! Score!!!

Owners are Bob and Dewi! Extremely friendly and always share a good joke or two. The place looks grilled down and I think cause if an event someone does steal something...you can't just walk out and buy a surfboard or wet suit. There aren't that many dive shops around. Everything is expensive and hard to acquire. Safe would you be in bed once the gates are locked.

Foosball time...try to beat little Ervin! Can you see that chicken right in the middle of the photo where the wall is...that's the manual alarm clock!

Chris the Fire boy!

Beware the gate keeper!!!!!!!!!

Ron the guard dog!

The peddlar auntie said, if my food is no good...you can complain to me tomorrow lol!

Today its surfing time. Below is a section of the Inn where all the stash is kept. Clean and tidy.

On the way up the hills and down the hills to Pantai Air Manis. Paddy fields in front of houses. Rare sight.

You get padded wide ass surf boards.

Huts can be rented at Rupiah 20,000 for a picnic or a sleep ins

You pay to enter the beach about Rupiah 7,000 I think. Rupiah 2,000 to take a shower and Rupiah 1,000 to take a piss. Oh wait! It's Rupiah 2,000 to take a dump!

Goatee eveywhere

Doggies and puppies roam freely. I am very culturally shocked in this place. The Muslims are not uncomfortable around dogs. They just mind their own business. In KL!!! Lucky if no one throws something at it. In General i'm saying!

Crab holes. The water is very clear but cause of the volcanic ashes or sand, the water is brown. However, while walking into the sea, if you have an OCD problem I suggest you do not go in. There are heapsssssssssssss of plastic bags underneath. If you are the type that minds, I kid you not when I say there are heaps. But the surfing (or trying to even stand on a surf board) was really fun. Just don't mind the 3 meter waves for starters.

Indomee in Indonesia.

Es Apokat! Yummy!

We did it halfway kekekekek! So much fun I have a burnt face from the sun.

I am betting at night it feels like a old school Phuket with no prostitutes

Dinner time at the SEDERHANA Nasi Padang Restaurant.

Nasi Padang: You pay for what you eat or touch. It comes in a layers of plates and an array of seafood, eggs, vegs, exotic animal parts.

I am going to miss this place so much. Actually thinking of when I can go back again. Maybe the materialistic life isn't all that glamorous.

How to get here:

Catch a flight via AirAsia to Padang, Sumatra, Minangkabau Airport. 3 times a day!

Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia Part 3

Day 2 in Padang!

The divers get 4 dives today! Must be beautiful that you just want more.

You will realise if you make it here on this trip/tour it is less stressful. You get out at 9 am or when the last person decides to wake up in your team. Grab the chicken and cuckoo them up! Takes about and hour and a bit out to the second day's destination. Kinda burnt!

The water and vision is extremely clear, I can probably see 20 meters cause that's where the corals were and the next was a 60 meter drop.

Look closer and you can see the corals below.

This DM should be quite popular in the diving industry in Malaysia. Chris the fireman!

Some friends we met on the trip

If you look closer, you can see a diver below. Trying to prove a point on the visibility here. Find the yellow fins!

Our lunch on the beach.

There are red ants on the beach hence one of our buddies sitting so god damn far away from the rest of us.

Romantic! You can even find spare flip flops on the beach if you don't have booties. Yes please wear booties cause of the corals. Hurts ass!

This is the best photo I can take of the coral down below the boat. The waves were a bit mad at that time.

Break time means time for snorkeling!!! Bob needs to go hide for a bit!

Boat boy gets to snorkel around too!

Our dinner

Yup! Fried egg for Chris cause the boy doesn't eat seafood.

My wholesome dinner kekekekkeke!

The popular Es Durian. Durian flesh paste on shaved iced and other stuff in it. Chocolate sauce topping. Tastes really lethal and the burps following are quite pungent! This is a popular desert in Padang and always packed with people.

On the way back to land, we were greeted by a school of dolphins maybe about 30 jumping up and down and chasing the boat. There were everywhere left right front back. It was just magnificent and everyone jumped up from their sleep. This is the best picture that I captured. I am in love! There are whales in Padang but its a rare sight.

Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia Part 2

This is part 2 of my trip to Padang.

Some local art found on the walls of coffee shops. I thought it was very creative hahahah

Us all missing one, having desert on the bridge

The owner looks Thai to me somehow and the reason this photo is blurry cause I panicked when he looked into my direction...Pretty fierce.

Banana pancake + Cheese + Butter + Chocolate rice flakes + condensed milk = sinful!

If you are staying at Nature's Inn along Hayam Wuruk, you could hear the concert going off opposite the road. Live telecast. Think its like a competition or a cultural show.

There's a huge entertainment centre just 150 meters away from Nature's Inn. There you can play pool and drink.
