You don't have to pay to see the penguins whilst in Melbourne. But of course you need to be in the right weather and season. Many land tour packages put this sight into the itinerary and might include extra charges. If you ain't renting a car, or travelling with like 10 others, elderly, just cos, you can easily catch the tram to St. Kilda Jetty or even a cab maybe. The winds are quite strong here, so wear something warm even in summer. ( Just in case )
I don't know if we were lucky or what! Cause the Penguin conservation/scientist team is at work tonight. Looks like quite a dangerous job. Walking on slippery rocks in darkness. Mind you some of them are as young as my parents.
